Direct Communication With God

"Some time ago God spoke in my spirit and said, 'I am going to show you how to speak to Me through a new communication system.' I said, 'Lord, I've never heard that term before.' He replied, 'When I birthed My church on the Day of Pentecost by pouring out the Holy Spirit, I gave my people a communication system so that they could talk to Me directly. That was praying in tongues. The Holy Spirit and tongues belong together. This is how My people can have one-on-one intimate communication with Me, but most of them don't know what they have.'

Think how bold we would be if we were aware that we have a daily one-on-one communication system with God Himself, as if we were walking and talking with Him in the flesh. If we realized He was that close to us and that our prayers would be answered, we could do anything that God has called us to do!

When God told me to build Him a university, I didn't know how to do it. The Lord asked me, 'Do you have the Holy Spirit?' 'Yes,' I answered. 'I received Him when I was born again.' 'Do you know what you have?' He asked. I said, 'No.' God said, 'It's exactly like having the physical presence of Jesus with you 24 hours a day. When the Spirit is in you, Jesus is with you physically.'

In John 14:16 Jesus said, I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever. Jesus was saying, 'I'm going to send you another One just like Me.' The Holy Spirit is in us so that we can be one with God and communicate directly with Him!"

ON DOCTRINE NOTE:
There you have it. Tongues is a communication system for speaking with God, and the reason we can know that is true is because Oral Roberts claims that God told him so. But isn't the contradiction apparent to the discerning reader? God gave Oral Roberts the revelation by speaking to him, and Oral Roberts spoke back to God ". . . in my spirit . . ," not by means of the revolutionary communication system. It is quite apparent that Oral Roberts didn't seem to have any difficulty communicationg with God ". . . one-on-one," without using the new communication system and without the aid of the Holy Spirit. In point of fact, Oral Roberts has received all of his revelations through his spirit and not by the means of the communication system with God that he claims is the gift of tongues.

If God ". . . gave my people a communication system so they could talk to Me directly," on the Day of Pentecost, then God's claim that He was revealing a ". . . new communication system . . ," to Oral Roberts was a false statement, because the system had already been in existence for almost 2,000 years. When Oral Roberts receives his "revelations" from God, a close examination of what he says almost invariably reveals God to be a liar, and this particular revelation is no exception. When a teacher can't make a case from the Scripture supporting their statements, then it takes a revelation from God to establish their foundation. To that end, Oral Roberts directed his claim.

Why is it that a person's native language is insufficient to communicate with God? Does God have some type of difficulty with translation? Of course, Oral Roberts would claim that it is the Holy Spirit speaking through the new language, by which the "groanings too deep for words," which the Holy Spirit conveys to God are actually spoken words by human beings through the magical language of the communication system. The apostle Paul claims that the Holy Spirit intercedes Himself, not by means of utterances by human beings, so Oral Roberts' version makes the apostle Paul to be a liar about what he states on the issue, Romans 6:26.
The real questions for the discerning individual are apparent:
1. Why did God wait almost 2,000 years to specifically state the nature of tongues and its connection to the Holy Spirit, when no such teaching is found in the Scripture? Apparently God finally realized He had left a major issue out of the Scripture and rectified the problem by giving Oral Roberts the privilege of revealing to the world the true nature of tongues.
2. Why does Oral Roberts' definition of tongues and his claim that God explained that definition to him differ from the expression of tongues found in the Scripture, which is the speaking of a known human language not previously learned by the speaker, Acts 2:4-21.
3. Why does Oral Roberts claim that tongues is a direct communication system to God that must be possessed by every believer, when the apostle Paul says that every believer does not have the gift of tongues, 1 Corinthians 12:28-31. Why does Oral Roberts make the apostle Paul to be a liar on the issue, while he claims for himself superior knowledge to the apostle appointed by Jesus Christ?
4. Why did God wait almost 2,000 years to reveal the "Seed Faith" (Giving and Receiving) doctrine to Oral Roberts so that he could use the teaching and the gullibility of his followers to provide the funding for his ministry?
