GOD IS A GOOD FATHER

"Many people think God uses sickness and disease to teach His children lessons. But if I were to teach one of my children a lesson by striking them blind or giving them cancer, I would be an unfit parent! God is not an unfit parent.

Jesus is a perfect reflection of the heavenly Father. And Acts 10:38 tells us that he went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil. Part of the good Jesus did included healing sickness. John 10:10 tells us that the devil is the one who oppresses us with sickness. God is the One who gives us abundant life! James 1:17 says that every good and every perfect gift comes from God above. This powerful truth, based on the revealed Word of God, can completely change your life if you embrace it and apply it to all your circumstances."

ON DOCTRINE NOTE:
In this short little article, Lindsay Roberts engages in some major mishandling of the Scripture in the attempt to support her claims. She also adopts the teaching of her father-in-law Oral Roberts, who has made similar comments in his article, "God Is Against Sickness," posted on the On Doctrine website.

FIRST, Acts 10:38 notes that Jesus "went about doing good and healing ALL who were oppressed by the devil," which means that if Acts 10:38 is supposed to be the example of how Jesus Christ heals today, then He must heal Christians and non-believers as well and He must heal everyone that is sick. Since that is not the case in the real world, then Lindsay Roberts' comparison also fails the test of reality.

SECOND, John 10:10 says nothing about the devil "oppressing us with sickness." Lindsay Roberts misquotes the verse, knowing very well that most people will simply accept her statement as being accurate without every reading the verse to see what it actually says. John 10:10 is not about physical healing, but it is about salvation, and is quoted as follows:
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." (NKJV)
The attempt by Lindsay Roberts to turn John 10:10 into an issue about the physical healing of disease is error of the highest order.

THIRDLY, the fact that James 1:17 states that every good and perfect gift is from God, says nothing about how God has used sickness and disease. Oral Roberts attempts to use James 1:17 to support his claim that God has never made anyone sick, but his argument fails also. See his article, "God Is Against Sickness," and the On Doctrine reply on the On Doctrine website.
