A HIGHER REALM

"f you're like me, you don't always know exactly how to pray for certain situations. But thank God, He has given us the Holy Spirit to help us when we don't know what to pray. Romans 8:26 nkjv says, The Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

When we pray in tongues, we're connecting with the Holy Spirit. And that means we're connecting to a higher realm than we're capable of in our flesh. The spirit realm is a higher dimension. It's a dimension where our minds can't mess things up, and we can pray in the perfect will of God. When I pray, I want to pray the will of God, not my own thoughts and opinions.

My father-in-law, Oral Roberts, says it this way: When you pray in the Spirit by praying in tongues, your limited mind is put on hold and your spirit opens up to the unlimited resources of God.

When you pray in your limited human understanding, you can only go so far. But when you tap into God's perfect will through praying in the Spirit, you are availing yourself of His unlimited power. Praying in the Spirit takes you out of your own understanding and connects you to the realm of the supernatural. There is power in that!

ON DOCTRINE NOTE:
Lindsay Roberts presents her version of a continuing claim that the expression of tongues is a spiritual language through which the Holy Spirit speaks to God and articulates an individual's needs that they may not be able to do using their native tongue. In other words, using tongues and being ignorant of what is being conveyed through language will communicate perfectly to God, while speaking in the native tongue of the individual, which a person can understand, will prevent the conveyance of those needs.

Lindsay Roberts simply adopts the teachngs of her father-in-law, Oral Roberts, and her husband, Richard Roberts. The problem is, that what she claims to be the case is not what is found in the Scripture. The teaching that tongues is a special spiritual language through which the Holy Spirit speaks to God is foreign to the Scripture and is a teaching that has been created outside of the Scripture. It is a teaching that bears no relation to the manner in which tongues were used in the early church and does not conform to the definition of tongues found in the Scripture.
