DAILY GUIDE TO MIRACLES from Oral Roberts Ministries Thursday, June 2, 2005 www.orm.cc THERE'S POWER IN AGREEMENT Lindsay Roberts Oral Roberts Ministries www.orm.cc "Recently I read a book about John G. Lake, a pastor and missionary who believed in the healing power of God. he was one of sixteen children, eight of whom died at a young age of a genetic disease. he, too, was diagnosed with the disease, but he was miraculously healed when he experienced the presence and power of God. Lake became a successful businessman. But after receiving the baptism in the Holy Spirit, he felt led by God to sell everything and take his wife and seven children to Africa to be missionaries. Soon after, his wife became ill and died. He said that during this desperate time his spirit was crying out for someone with faith in God who could help him. This man, who had witnessed miracles, sings, and wonders in his ministry, needed a boost to his faithsomeone to go into agreement with him to believe God for his wife's healing. There are times when, just like John G. Lake, we all need someone to help us kick-start our faith. This is when we need to find someone who will go into a prayer of agreement with us and join their faith with ours. When we have a weakness in an area, they can help pour strength and faith into that area to hold us up. There is power in agreement. Jesus said, 'If two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven' (Matthew 18:19 NIV). If you need someone to join in agreement with you for a miracle, prayer partners are waiting at the Abundant Life Prayer Group to pray with you. Call 918-495-7777 anytime, day or night, for a powerful prayer of agreement." ON DOCTRINE NOTE: Once again, a prominent individual in the Christian world does not state correctly the meaning of Matthew 18:19, but creates an entire theological belief out of a misrepresentation of what the Scripture actually says. This is not unusual, because Lindsay Roberts simply adopts the same teaching presented by Evelyn Roberts, Oral Roberts, Richard Roberts, Marilyn Hickey, Joyce Meyer and a host of other Word of Faith teachers who adopt and teach the same doctrine. Matthew 18:19 says nothing about an agreement regarding the personal desires of Christians and the verse says nothing about prayer at any point. The Prayer of Agreement doctrine is a false teaching, designed and adopted for some very selfish reasons. SEE: Prayer Of Agreement - Matthew 18:19 |
