DAILY GUIDE TO MIRACLES from Oral Roberts Ministries Friday, February 18, 2005 http://orm.cc A PARENT'S PRAYER Evelyn Roberts Oral Roberts Ministries www.orm.cc "One of my favorite Scriptures is Matthew 18:19. It says, 'If two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.' I believe a parent's prayers can be powerful. Over the years I have heard from so many people who tell me that their children are not serving the Lord. As a parent, I understand the pain they must be feeling. But more important, God understands. He loves our children more than we can possibly know, and He longs to work miracles in their lives. You can do everything humanly possible for your children as they're growing up. You can meet their physical needs, teach them the Word of God, and pray with them and for them. In the end, however, you have to give them over to the Lord and stand on His promises for them. First Peter 5:7 tells us to cast all of our cares upon Him, because He cares for us. That includes our concerns for our children. Give them to the Lord and trust Him to take care of them. Let's pray together and expect a miracle in our children's lives. Father, we're thinking of our children right now, and we lift them up to You. According to Jeremiah 29:11, You have a plan for their lives, and it's a plan to prosper them and give them hope and a future. Thank You for taking care of them and for sending someone across their paths to lead them to salvation and keep them strong in their walk with You. Our children are Yours, Father, and we trust You to take care of them and guide their lives. We pray in the precious Name of Your Son, Jesus. Amen." ON DOCTRINE NOTE: Once again, a famous and influential individual in the Christian community does not state correctly the reality of what the Scripture says, and claims that Matthew 18:19 gives power and authority to Christians which they do not have. Using Matthew 18:19 as a singular "proof text" for her beliefs, Evelyn Roberts misstates the meaning of the verse and ignores completely the context in which the verse is a part. The verse says nothing about the agreement of Christians regarding anything that they might personally wish, such as health, wealth, happiness or any temporal desire that they might have, by which God will or must grant those requests. Oral Roberts, the husband of Evelyn, and Richard Roberts, her son, both adopt the same error in relation to the verses. Both claim to be anointed leaders who are appointed by God and say they receive communications and revelations from God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit almost on a daily basis, but they have never been corrected by Deity about their own false teachings about Matthew 18:19. In addition, the associates of these individuals, such as Marilyn Hickey, Kenneth Copeland and Joyce Meyer also teach falsely about the verse. For a treatment of the Scripture in which the verse is presented and the actual meaning that it conveys, read the article on the On Doctrine website: PRAYER OF AGREEMENT - The False Claims Regarding Matthew 18:19 |
