DAILY GUIDE TO MIRACLES from Oral Roberts Ministries Saturday, September 24th, 2005 http://orm.cc THE TREE THAT FAITH GREW Kenneth Copeland Kenneth Copeland Ministries www.kcm.org "The first house Gloria and I owned after we went into the ministry was built on a bald hill. There were no trees in sight, so I planted a little weeping willow tree about as big around as a broom handle. One night I came home from a meeting and noticed that the tree was dead. I mean it was DEAD! There wasn't a leaf on it, and it looked like nothing more that a dried-up stick sticking out of the ground. At first I started to jerk it up. Then I thought, Deuteronomy 28 says that I'm the seed of Abraham and the fruit of my land is blessed. That's when I decided to use my faith on that tree. I took my Bible, got down on the ground next to the tree, and I spoke to it. Yes, I spoke to that tree! Jesus spoke to the wind and the sea (see Mark 4:39), and He spoke to the fig tree (see Matthew 21:19). So I talked to my tree. 'Tree,' I said, 'I speak life to you, in Jesus' Name.' It didn't look like that tree was ever going to grow. Finally one day, little green sprouts began to come out of it. When we moved from that house, it still wasn't much bigger than a broomstick, but you should see that tree now. It's the biggest tree in the neighborhood, and the branches of that willow are weeping al over the place! Just as I spoke words of faith to that tree, if you sow god's Word into your heart, your spirit will bring forth the fruit of the word. Your spirit was designed to grow God's Word. It is fertile ground. If you'll plant faith into your heart, it will grow and bear fruit. That's just the way faith works!" ON DOCTRINE NOTE: When you are only a "little god," those pesky miracles take much longer to perform. When Jesus Christ spoke to the wind and the sea, they were stilled at once. When He cursed the fig tree it withered at once before the eyes of the disciples. But, Kenneth Copeland's miracle command of life to a tree took much longer. No matter, Kenneth Copeland still considers himself to be a creator as he has said: "You have the same creative faith and ability on the inside of you that God used when he created the heavens and the earth."Apparently Kenneth Copeland spoke life into that tree very early in his ministry, so by now, since he has learned enough to be the teacher and receives direct revelations and instructions from God, he must be able to perform much more impressive miracles. But, maybe not? "'Well, He created all those planets, how come you can't create something?' You don't know as much about it as He does. He has a greater working knowledge of that faith than you do. But we're learning. Our time is coming. And in some ways its already here."Kenneth Copeland claims to be a miracle worker, a creator of life by the use of faith, which is a commodity that has greater power than God, since He had to use faith in order to create the universe: "You have the same creative faith and ability on the inside of you that God used when he created the heavens and the earth." Kenneth Copeland, Inner Image of the Covenant, side 2.According to Kenneth Copeland, the only difference between himself and God is a little matter of education. If Kenneth Copeland only had a little more knowledge, he could perform the same miraculous creative acts as God. He already claims that he could have accomplished the atonement, the same as Jesus Christ, so what is one more claim to equality with God? "The Spirit of God spoke to me and He said, 'Son, realize this. Now follow me in this and don't let your tradition trip you up.' He said, 'Think this way - a twice-born man whipped Satan in his own domain.' And I threw my Bible down like that. I said, 'What?' He said, 'A born-again man defeated Satan, the firstborn of many brethren defeated him.' He said, 'You are the very image, the very copy of that one.' I said, 'Goodness, gracious sakes alive!' And I began to see what had gone on in there, and I said, 'Well now you don't mean, you couldn't dare mean, that I could have done the same thing?' He said, 'Oh yeah, if you'd had the knowledge of the Word of God that He did, you could have done the same thing, 'cause you're a reborn man too.'"Of course, we have Kenneth Copeland's word on the matter, after all he spoke life into a tree. If you don't believe that, just ask Kenneth Copeland. |
