"Who is to know what religious belief is correct. Let's not forget that the people that wrote the Bible are
also the people that thought the world was flat."
ON DOCTRINE NOTE:
Basing his religious beliefs on a wrong presumption of what the writers of Scripture believed and knew,
Byron manages to provide a false foundation for his beliefs and reveals he has not read the Scriptures
that he denies.
What does the Scripture actually say, in relation to the claim that the authors believed in a flat earth?
He stretches out the north over empty space and hangs the earth on nothing.
He has inscribed a circle on the surface of the waters at the boundary of light and darkness.
Job 26:7, 10 (NAS)
When He established the heavens, I was there, when He inscribed a circle on the face of the deep . .
.
Proverbs 8:27 (NAS)
It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches
out the heavens like a curtain and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.
Isaiah 40:22 (NAS)
It seems like the writers of Scripture were a little more familiar with the universe than Byron is willing to
give credit. It is presumption to assume that modern people are the enlightened and the ancients were
uneducated cretins who grubbed around in ignorance.
